Recession in IT Industry ???

Has the recession in the most booming industry of the country really started ???

Recently i heard the news that, Country's top notched Information Technology companies are firing the employees... as per a friend following has been the status
IBM fired 200
Cybage fired 50
L & T fired 300
Cognizant fire 150

But i wonder what is the reason?? because the IT sector is doing exceptionally well, companies making profits.. then why all of the sudden you are having a recession ?? On one hand companies are firing off employees and on the other we see a big job fair being organized by Government of Gujarat. Please visit this page to find out more about the Job fair http://www.gujaratinformatics.com/c2c/C2c_jobfair_310707.htm

We are having a revolutionary more here in Gujarat, where many new IT sectors are coming in making a new IT Hub here in Gujarat, but still we see a recession.. So its a fact of life.. Even after the huge booming, you are bound to see a recession..

Well our professor have always been saying that there will be recession and booming in all the industry.. but if you are fundamentally strong, you stay...

During the time of a Booming period, the demand of people increases, but you don't have enough professionals out there, So companies start recruiting any person that they find at the time... But after the phase, when a recession hits the industry, who all are going to suffer.. not you, if you are strong.. That is the reason why we are taught to be fundamentally strong.. because if you are fundamentally strong, you can build big buildings on top of it...

Well to give some points that every IT student should take care of while getting ready for the field to take the blow of the Recession are following :
  1. Be fundamentally strong, because if you are strong in C / C++ and basic concepts, you can be a more efficient programmer.
  2. Create a Standard style of programming, that helps your work to be easily understandable by others.
  3. Don't neglect other subjects in your course, for example, in MCA I have, Accounting, Management, Statistics and lots of other subjects which one would find of no use.. But in practice you don't know where you would be using it.
  4. Having a managerial and leadership skills are equally important for any IT professional.
  5. The college course structure are never enough for any IT professional, you will be taught new things in the industry also. But if you already know those things before, you become an Asset for the company, So better start learning something extra while you are just a student.

The above points of consideration will help you become a strong and good IT professional. So whether there is a recession or not, you will stay there marking your point.
